The Trustees

Lady Rosamund Gladstone: President and Chair of Trustees

Involved with the RDA for approximately 28 years, I have been a Group helper and organiser. I was the County and the Regional Chairman and have worked with RDA National in various capacities including chairing the holiday committee. Ran my first holiday in 1978 at our home and have continued to run holidays every year since. Since we bought the Centre I have run National holidays there for adult riders from throughout the UK and in 2001 from Russia with riders from Hong Kong in 2002. Hobbies? Not a lot of time for hobbies – the 14 grandchildren take up my ‘spare’ time!

Mrs Jill Walton

I have been a Trustee of the Special Riding Centre since 1996, having previously been District Commissioner of the Wynnstay Pony Club. I have three grown-up children, five grand-children and two dogs. I play tennis and bridge, do a lot of needlework and can’t resist crosswords and sudokus.
During the three years I spent as Chairman of the Trustees, I realised more and more how hard our staff and volunteers work, and what benefit our riders, carriage drivers and equestrian vaulters get from the Centre. The Clwyd Special Riding Centre is a very special part of my life.

Mrs Sally Anson: RDA Group Helper

I am a wife and the mother of 2 children. We live in Hanmer surrounded by horses, sheep, pigs and dogs. We all like the outdoor life and I also try to do some gardening. I started helping with the RDA in Glasgow in 1990 and have been helping the Dyffryn Ceiriog Group at Clwyd Special Riding Centre on Thursdays for many years.

Mrs Pat Green: Parent of RDA Rider

Pat Green is married to Charles with 2 daughters, Annabella and Deborah. Annabella used to ride with the Wrexham Group RDA at Clwyd Special Centre. Pat and her family have horses of their own, which she and Deborah ride. They also have 2 black labradors, and all share a great love for animals and the countryside.

Pat’s responsibility is for Group matters.

Mr Alun Morgan

Alun was Area Manager HSBC for before he retired.

Alun is responsible for personnel matters.

Mrs Ann Steel-Mortimer

We came from Ireland to North Wales to live in the family home in 1981. I was involved with an RDA group in Co. Kildare during the 70′s; I am now a Volunteer with the Hope Mountain group. I was also involved with the Pony Club both here and in Ireland. Now I am kept busy running a Guest business in partnership with my sister-in-law.

Mr John Evans

John is legal advisor to the Centre.

Mr Maurice Cottle, FCA

I am a Chartered Accountant who retired from business in 2004, having worked mainly in the retail sector. I became Honorary Treasurer in July 2005.

Maurice is responsible for financial matters at the Centre.

Mrs Pat Turner: Retired Teacher & RDA Group Helper

I was a teacher of Physical Education all my working life with a keen interest in children with special needs.  As well as being a Trustee I help with the Wrexham Group RDA at CSRC. My husband and I have three daughters, six grand-children and two spaniels. We enjoy all countryside activities.

Pat’s responsibility is for Group matters.

Mr Philip Gerrard-Jones

Philip is Business Advisor to the Centre and is responsible for insurance matters.

Mrs Victoria Everall

I joined the Centre as a Trustee in April 2011. The Centre has been a huge part of my family for so long. My mother, Anne Sopwith, is the Patron of the Centre and was very instrumental in ‘conceiving’ the idea of developing it from a Hill Farm. Prior to this development, my siblings and I were involved from a very young age in helping with disabled riders at our home in Glyn Ceiriog using our ponies. It is lovely to be able to continue our family connections and join such a dedicated group of Trustees, staff and volunteers in this thriving Centre of Excellence. In my ‘spare time’ I am a wife and mother of two children aged 9 and 10 who both love riding (as I do) and are in the local Pony Club in Shropshire. I am also self-employed as an Independent Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist. My hobbies include gardening, running, riding and cooking.

Mr Robert Thompson

I am a farmer who has abandoned the milking parlour for a supposedly less demanding way of life!  A trustee for about 18 years, I am more often seen in overalls than a suit, concetrating on the buildings, equipment and the land.

VICE-PRESIDENTS: THE LORD DARESBURY, COLONEL SIR CHARLES LOWTHER, Bt.

VICE-PRESIDENT: Mrs Jill Griffith: RDA County Chairman

Jill Griffith started the Greenfield RDA Group in 1974. She was the RDA Regional Chairman of North Wales from 1978 to 1985 and was the District Commissioner of the Flint and Denbigh Hunt Branch of the Pony Club from 1985 to 1995. Jill is currently the North East Wales RDA County Chairman and has been a Trustee of the Clwyd Special Riding Centre since it began. Her hobbies include riding, breeding horses and racing, as well as gardening, travel and reading.
