Welcome To The Clwyd Special Riding Centre Website!
Clwyd Special Riding Centre situated in Llanfynydd near Wrexham in North Wales is a registered charity run by a group of volunteers. Every week it welcomes over 200 people of all ages with special needs who benefit from the pleasure and stimulation of riding, carriage-driving and equestrian vaulting. This unique Centre also provides residential riding holidays for groups of people with special needs from all over the UK and abroad.
There are signs on the road running past the Centre to say that it will be closed on Sunday 20th July. We do not know the reason for this or for how long the road will remain closed. If you need to travel to the Centre on that day, please be mindful that you may need to choose an alternative route. If the situation changes we will post a message here.
Simon Cottle, the son of our Hon Treasurer ran the ultramarathon in Colarado last year raising an incredible £11,000 for the Centre. This year, he has set himself another challenge, running a marathon a day through the Austrian and Swiss Alps, at altitude. Simon has set up a Virgin Money Giving page for donations. On Saturday, 28th June, 2014, one of our supporters held a bingo session to raise funds for the Centre. Doors opened at 1.30pm at the Royal British Legion in Llay, near Wrexham. Thank you, Tracy, for organising this event and for raising a fantastic £460 for the Centre's funds, it is very much appreciated.
The beautiful gardens at Hawarden Castle were open to visitors on Saturday 18th May. It was a glorious day, weather wise, and there was a record number of people kind enough to visit. An incredible £5010 was raised so huge thanks go to everyone who attended and bought the lovely strawberry cream scones, cakes and teas and plants, of course. The first hippotherapy conference in Wales is being hosted by Lynne Munro our RDA Regional Physiotherapist (Lynne also leads the hippotherapy sessions held on Fridays, here at CSRC). The conference is being held at the Wrexham Medical Institute, Technology Park Centre, Croesnewydd Road, Wrexham, Ll13 7YP on Thursday 26th June, 2014, between 9.00am and 3.00pm. Once again, huge thanks go out to our incredible volunteers who were kind enough to give up their valuable time over the Easter break to go bag packing at M&S, Eagles Meadow, Wrexham. We are so very grateful for the time you gave, for the hard work you put in and for the way you all represented the Centre so enthusiastically. Mr Lane, one of our valued volunteers, often repairs bikes which have been donated which are then sold to raise funds for the Centre.
